Colisport, bulky parcel shipping across France and Europe
From operations to decisions
Colisport Analytics
As Data & Analytics Architect at Colisport, I designed and deployed the company's analytics platform, from operational data ingestion to the dashboards leadership uses daily to manage margins and optimize pricing.
The context
Colisport lets individuals and businesses ship bulky parcels safely, at the best price, across France and Europe. In a few clicks, customers choose their delivery mode (eco, standard, or express), enter shipment details, pay, and pack their parcel. Colisport handles the rest: pickup, transport, and delivery through a network of carrier partners.
The challenge
Leadership needed fine-grained visibility into costs, carrier expenses, and actual margin, segment by segment. A bike, a sports package, and a sofa don't share the same logistics profile, routing cost, or profitability. Without consolidated, enriched data, there was no reliable way to know where the business was making money and where it was losing it.
- Operational data scattered in MongoDB with no unified analytics model
- Carrier costs hard to compare in real time across thousands of shipments
- Margin calculated manually or approximately, with no fine-grained product segmentation
- No self-service tool for leadership to query the data independently
What I built
An end-to-end analytics platform, automated pipelines, business enrichment, and exposure through dashboards and an AI assistant.
MongoDB → PostgreSQL pipeline
Built automated Prefect pipelines to ingest operational data from MongoDB, transform it, and aggregate it in PostgreSQL, enriching records along the way via carrier APIs to capture real-time shipping costs.
Company-wide dashboards
Designed all of the company's dashboards: financial monitoring, margin analysis by segment (parcel type, delivery mode, carrier, geographic zone), and operational KPIs for leadership and business teams.
Geospatial visualizations
Interactive ECharts maps to visualize shipment flows, high-density zones, regional cost gaps, and pricing optimization opportunities, supporting commercial strategy.
Natural language AI assistant
Integrated an assistant enabling natural language queries on the PostgreSQL database, leadership can ask business questions without writing SQL or depending on the data team.
Day-to-day impact
The platform became the reference tool for strategic decisions. Instead of navigating exports and rough estimates, leadership now has a consolidated, up-to-date, actionable view.
Margin by segment
Precise identification of profitable and loss-making segments (bikes, sports equipment, furniture), to adjust commercial offers and pricing grids.
Pricing optimization
Real-time carrier cost comparison to calibrate customer-facing prices and protect margin on every shipment type.
Carrier management
Visibility into each logistics partner's performance and cost, making negotiations easier and enabling optimal carrier selection per route.
Faster strategic decisions
Leadership meetings grounded in reliable, shared numbers, no more debating "which figure is correct." The AI assistant enables ad-hoc analysis in seconds.
Tech stack
Prefect-orchestrated pipelines, MongoDB to PostgreSQL, FastAPI backend, React frontend with ECharts, deployed on Kubernetes
Colisport Analytics gave a growing logistics company the same operational visibility as a mature e-commerce player, margin insight, continuously enriched data, and tools leadership actually uses, every week.
